ClearPath provides education, peer support, and sorting and discarding services for those with excessive clutter. ClearPath is the largest therapeutic hoarding service provider New England. ClearPath staff educate those who work with people affected with hoarding disorder. ClearPath Program provides therapeutic decluttering services and workshops.

A task force representing about fifteen agencies and practitioners developed ClearPath’s programming for those with hoarding disorder, their families, and the public. Programming is offered in various towns in Metro Boston in cooperation with municipal departments, through agencies, and directly to the public.

Persons with hoarding disorder are estimated to comprise 3-5% of the general population. Hoarding tendencies are often not expressed until a traumatic event occurs, such as the loss of a spouse, or an illness. Hoarding disorder causes the sufferer to become ashamed and isolated, as hoarders often do not allow others, including their families, to enter their homes or other spaces that are cluttered.

ClearPath offers peer support groups for hoarders and their families. These groups, which use Buried in Treasures (by David Tolin and Randy O. Frost) to guide participants towards strategies that promote healthy behaviors, enable hoarders to create healthier living environments and promote well-being.
