MCDC’s Financial Fitness Center described how low and moderate income workers who have children have strong incentive to work.
Lynn Faust directed the Human Services Coalition to a chart from http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/key-elements/family/eitc.cfm that shows that workers who have children can receive up to about $6000 in tax credits for their work. EITC-eligible cannot file 1040 EZ to receive the credit, and married persons must file jointly to be eligible.
